Raised both in Tokyo, Japan and in Memphis, Tennessee, J'Nique Nicole is an independent singer taking the Tokyo scene by storm.
One of her greatest successes thus far includes lyric-writing and providing vocals for "Weight of the World", the theme song for award-winning Square-Enix game NieR: Automata, as well as providing vocals for other songs like “A Beautiful Song” and “Memories of Dust” . NieR: Automata saw sales of over 7 million copies worldwide, and the official soundtrack peaked at #2 on the Oricon Chart during its first week of release, and nominated and won awards for Best Score or Excellent Music Composition. J'Nique received an award for Outstanding Solo Artist for her work on the album.
J'Nique Nicole also gained popularity through her work as backup vocals for multiple tours and groups, such as Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Ashanti, Japanese band BRADIO, and singer Kubota Toshinobu and Japanese-American singer Ai.
As a solo artist, J'Nique Nicole frequently sings at lounges, weddings, coordinates her own one-man shows, and works with various Japanese contractors creating jingles or recording background music for events and malls. Her first EP titled This Is Only The Beginning is available for download, featuring her singles "Black Girl Magic" and "BAE".
