MISAKO AOKI

Fashion Model

Misako Aoki is one of the longest-serving representatives of Harajuku's "Lolita Fashion" subculture. Beginning as a model at the age of 15, she was scouted by Japanese publication KERA, which was the start of her blossoming career as a model, later culture ambassador, author, artist and entrepreneur.

As one of the most renowned models and idols in Harajuku street fashion, she modeled for multiple publications like KERA and Gothic & Lolita Bible, as well as fashion brands, and launched collaborations with Baby, the Stars Shine Bright, Qpot, axes femme, and more. Doll company Pullip has also created dolls after her likeness.

In 2009, Misako Aoki was given the title of "Kawaii Ambassador" by Japan's Foreign Embassy effort in promoting  Japanese pop culture internationally.. Through this opportunity, she traveled throughout dozens of cities throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia and Oceania for Japanese culture events, anime conventions and other appearances. During the 2010s she made a music single under the name "Lolitina", and sung with idol group merry merli for their collab album "Antique Doll". Misako would go on to release fashion books, a biography called ロリータファッションBOOK ("Lolita Fashion BOOK"), release a small line of skincare products and other fashion or beauty collections with Japanese cosmetic companies.

Currently, she continues her modeling career, posting to YouTube and other social media about current releases with various brands, her own travels overseas for fashion events, while balancing her nursing career.
